Meta just made a big move. On December 5, 2025, the company announced it bought Limitless, a startup behind some pretty clever AI-powered wearables. They didn’t say how much they paid, but it’s obvious what Meta wants: to bring advanced, always-on AI right into the stuff people wear every day. Reality Labs, the division behind Meta’s hardware, is now doubling down on smart glasses and wearables instead of chasing more far-off ideas.
This fits right into Meta’s bigger plan. Dan Siroker, Limitless’s CEO, said his company shares Meta’s dream of giving everyone “personal superintelligence” through AI wearables. Siroker and his team are moving over to join Reality Labs, bringing their experience building AI hardware for everyday people—and their know-how in ambient intelligence. Meta’s snapping up some serious talent here. Few days back Alan Dye was hired, who used to lead design part at Apple. That hire, plus this deal, signals Meta’s serious about building slick and next generation devices that actually make AI useful and easy for regular people.
Dan Shiroker, "Limitless, a product that helps you beyond your mind's limitations and give you perfect memory."
So, what’s Limitless been up to?
Before Meta scooped them up, Limitless made waves with the Pendant. It’s not just a recorder it’s more like a memory boost you wear. The Pendant is slim, made of shiny aluminum, and you can clip it on or wear it around your neck. It’s subtle enough that you forget it’s there, quietly recording conversations and moments all day.
Tech wise, it’s packed. There’s a bunch of microphones, so it grabs clear audio, even in noisy places. But the real magic happens in the software. The app turns your recordings into transcripts and neat summaries, picking out action items and letting you search for stuff you said weeks ago. The “Ask AI” feature is wild you can just ask, “Who did I meet last Thursday?” or “What did Anna say about the project?” and it finds the answer in your recordings. Privacy wasn’t an afterthought either. They baked in a “Consent Mode” so it only records people who agree. Ohh and it runs forever about 100 hours on a single charge.
Now that Meta owns Limitless, things are shifting. The company will stop selling the Pendant to new customers, and it won’t come out as a stand alone Meta product. People who already bought one still get support for at least a year, plus a free upgrade to the Unlimited Plan.
Meta wasn’t after the gadget itself. They wanted the tech, the brains, and the engineering behind it.
The goal is to take Limitless’s conversation-capturing, memory boosting know how and weave it into Meta’s own AI devices. Next versions of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses look like the prime target. Picture this smart glasses that can already snap photos and record audio, now souped up with Limitless’s tech. Suddenly, every meeting, every chat, every detail from your day is searchable, summarized, and at your fingertips.
Price of these glasses start at just 29000 INR
This deal puts Meta on the fast track. By bringing Limitless “personal superintelligence” to its wearables, Meta gets closer to its vision: devices that act like real, always-there assistants. Glasses that remember for you. Information, instantly. It’s a big step toward Meta’s idea of the future a world where AI powered smart glasses are how you connect with everything digital.
